How the sign follows Apple's and Google's rules

From Apple's Add to Apple Wallet badge guidelines and Google's Google Wallet brand guidelines.

Add to Apple Wallet

  • Apple's own badge artwork, unchanged: not redrawn, rotated or given effects
  • With a QR code, as Apple's guidelines describe for printed materials
  • Secondary to your headline and business, never the main graphic
  • Clear space of more than a tenth of its height on every side
  • Apple's credit line, naming only the marks used

Add to Google Wallet

  • Google's own button, unchanged, in black
  • Its proportions kept: resized as a whole, never free-scaled
  • The same height as Apple's badge, so never smaller than another button
  • More than 8 dp of clear space on every side
  • On white, the background Google's primary button is for

One code for both wallets

Every WalletPassAPI pass has its own install page, which offers each phone its own wallet: the link to put in your QR code.

Questions

Can I use the Add to Apple Wallet badge on a printed poster?

Yes. Apple's guidelines say the badge is for web pages, email and printed materials accompanied by a QR code that lets people add a pass. Use Apple's own artwork, unchanged, and keep it secondary to your main message: it mustn't be the main graphic.

What are the rules for the Add to Google Wallet button?

Use Google's own button, unchanged: it only comes in black, keeps its proportions when resized, is never smaller than other buttons, and has at least 8 dp of clear space on every side. Google's primary button is for white and light backgrounds, which is why the sign puts both badges on white.

What link should the QR code open?

A link that adds your pass, ideally one page that offers each phone its own wallet, so one code works on iPhone and Android. A shorter link makes a simpler code that's easier to scan from further away. An “Add to Google Wallet” link only adds to Google Wallet, and a .pkpass file only to Apple Wallet.

Do I need the trademark credit line?

Apple asks for its credit line wherever a communication gives legal information, naming only the trademarks used. The sign maker adds one along the foot, for the badges you choose; you can turn it off if the sign's legal notice is elsewhere.

Can I get a PDF for a print shop?

Yes. Save PDF gives a one-page PDF at the sign's paper size exactly, with the sign at 300 dots per inch, the usual print resolution, compressed without losing anything. For a designer who wants to edit it, save the SVG, which stays vector.

Is my link or logo sent anywhere?

No. The sign, its QR code and your logo are put together in your browser, and nothing is sent to us or stored. The badge files come with the page.
